All nite

Janet Jackson
All Nite

I cannot lie.  This remix is the product of boredom.

All Nite was my first Stimulated Remix.  I was bored as hell in Tampa Florida sometime in 2005 and came up with the idea of remixes some known songs with a twist.  People who knew me well knew that although I made hiphop and rnb tracks, I also made a gang of downtempo/electronica songs.  Well… Why not apply that to popular hiphop and rnb?  If you could do a downtempo version of the Rolling Stones, why not do the same to Jay Z?

Anyway… Somehow I stumbled upon the remix acapella of All Nite.  Unlike most of the songs I’ve remixed, I didn’t really like the original for some reason and I never heard the remixed version of the song.   The acapella had some hot elements.  I remember sitting in my apartment and doing two things that were critical to this remix.  The first thing I did was chop up Janets beatboxing.  I was so excited.  I chopped it up and re-programmed her beatbox myself.  You can hear all that in the beginning of the song up until the the drums drop.

Then… I came up with the chord progression and baseline.  Unlike most of the music we listen to, I thought this song would be cool to build slowly by adding various elements over time.  As a result, I tried to play everything live from the start to finish.  The baseline and electric piano were recorded this way.  I often wonder if I should have extended the ending… Eh.

I hope you enjoyed it.
